Cancun Cosmetic Dentistry’s new Blog post
The famous, all-inclusive resorts that populate Cancun’s Hotel Zone are probably the city’s biggest draws. As a result, a visitor to Cancun could be forgiven for giving in to the temptation to never leave the luxury amenities and picturesque beaches of their resort. But that would be a mistake. As Travel Weekly attests, Cancun is city that extends far beyond its famed Boulevard Kukulkan.
Local Cuisine
The resorts are the place for 5-star cuisine, but for people looking for delicious, authentic Mexican unlike what you can get anywhere else, getting off the main drag is a must. For example, a local favorite in downtown Cancun is Julia Mia, an upscale twist on down home, local cuisine, complete with local mariachis serenading the patrons.
Other great spots include La Cueva del Chango, famed for their sopes, and Mango Cafe, with an ever evolving menu of innovative dishes such as green apple guacamole.
Shopping
Like any world class city, Cancun has plenty of ways for you to acquire one-of-a-kind items. There are a number of retail outlets and outdoor markets where travelers can try their hands at haggling for the best prices on locally produced jewelry and handicrafts. There a great number of malls in Downtown Cancun featuring trendy boutiques that are easily accessible by public transit.
Take the plunge
Your resort will most likely have lovely pools as well as direct access to the beach. As far as swimming goes, that can be hard to beat. But Cancun’s Yucatan Peninsula feature man natural swimming holes made from cenotes and natural sinkholes that form into groundwater pools.
Riviera Maya’s Cenote Azul (pictured) is a great place to take the family for a great swim and way to take in the area’s natural beauty. For a mere $6 person, you can spend all day swimming, snorkeling in this unique natural wonder.
